Some 2,080 athletes, of them 307 are foreigners, participated in the 3rd Sihanoukville-Angkor Beer International Half Marathon taking place on Mar. 9 in Preah Sihanouk coastal province, according to H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC).
The 3rd Sihanoukville-Angkor Beer International Half Marathon, held under the theme of “Protecting the environment, protecting the nature, saving our globe and the well-being of mankind”, is aimed to raise fund for Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospitals, poor children in Preah Sihanouk province and O’ Chheu Teal Beach’s guards.
For the 21-kilometer race, the Cambodian athletes ranked first, second and third in the men category, while for women category, a French runner came in first and the two runners up were an American and an Irish runners.
Besides, there were also the 10.5-kilometer road race, 3-kilometer family run and 3-kilometer fun walk categories.
Last year, some 1,400 athletes from 21 countries participated in the Sihanoukville-Angkor Beer International Half Marathon.
