The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has organised a "tourism food festival from the source" under the name "Thailand Live Gastronomy" at Siam Square, in collaboration with the Property Management Office of Chulalongkorn University.
"One of the government's policies is to boost Thailand's economy through the tourism industry to enhance the country's ability to compete in trade and commerce. TAT has realised the importance of upgrading its tourism services by capitalizing on Thai cuisine that is very much a part of our national culture. This entails local community history and art and culture that can be adapted so it is relevant to today's age, as well as development of new tourist destinations to attract Thai and foreign visitors to the source, where they can taste authentic local food and learn about culture and the Thai way of life in different regions of the country", said the Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn.
The event tagline "Flavors for the world" showcased a creative culture of local Thai cuisines from all five regions (Bangkok, Central, Isan, Northern and Southern) which aims to help open door to exciting tourist destinations across the kingdom. Apart from many deliciously authentic food and amazing cooking demonstrations, visitors also enjoyed live entertainment which included live bands and Thai boxing show.
