ANGKOR HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN CELEBRATES 20 YEARS WITH AIM TO BREAK RECORDS AT ANGKOR WAT INTERNATIONAL HALF MARATHON

AHC launches “Get Active” campaign to attract record-setting goal of 250 runners raising over US$250,000 for paediatric health care

SIEM REAP, Cambodia -- Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC) has set an ambitious goal to break fundraising records through its annual “Get Active” campaign at the 23rd Annual Angkor Wat International Half Marathon on Dec. 2, 2018. The nonprofit paediatric hospital, celebrating 20 years in operation, hopes to raise more than US$250,000 via a team of over 250 international and local participants. The funds will help AHC continue to provide free healthcare for thousands of Cambodian children who seek medical treatment from the hospital each week.

Participants from around the world can join in a variety of ways to “Get Active” and fundraise for the cause. Along with the half marathon, bicycle races, road races, family-friendly routes, and courses designed for those with handicaps are offered, all of which take participants through the jungle paths of the temples of Angkor, an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

By signing up to run with “Team AHC,” fundraisers have an opportunity to not only make their miles count toward supporting Cambodian children in need, but also enjoy an enhanced race experience. Runners receive personal attention before, during, and after the race from the AHC Events Team, streamlined registration and race pack collection, Team AHC branded running shirts, and special offers on hotel and tour packages. Additionally, all Team AHC registrants are invited to unwind after the race with a free AHC Refuel Brunch where runners can network with other runners and AHC staff, and get an exclusive look at the inner workings of the hospital. Enticing prizes are also awarded to top individual fundraisers.

“The marathon weekend serves as our largest local fundraising event,” says AHC CEO Dr. Claudia Turner.  “The money raised is integral to delivering on our mission of improving healthcare for Cambodia’s children.”
