The Meeting on ASEAN Regional Forum Defense Officials’ Dialogue (ARF-DOD) kicked off here yesterday, aiming at accelerating regional cooperation on human assistance and disaster relief and peacekeeping operations.
The two-day meeting was attended by defense officials from 27 countries, Lt. Gen. Nem Sowath, Director General of Cambodian Defense Ministry’s Policy and Foreign Affairs Department said.
The forum will seek more cooperation from our ASEAN’s dialogue partners on the human assistance and disaster relief and peacekeeping operations for regional peace, harmony and prosperity, he said.
The meeting will also focus on the cooperation in combating human and drug trafficking, maritime security, and international terrorism in the region, he added.
The participants are from ASEAN member states including Brunei , Cambodia , Indonesia , Laos , Malaysia , Myanmar , the Philippines , Singapore , Thailand and Vietnam and partner countries including the United States , Russia , China , India , Japan and South Korea .
