There are currently some 4,000 tour guides in Cambodia, said recently Ho Vandy, Co-chair of the Government-Private Sector Working Group on Tourism.
They are English-, French-, Chinese-, Korean-, Japanese-, Vietnamese-, Thai-, German-, Spanish- and Russian-speaking tour guides, he pointed out.
The majority of them are English-speaking guides, followed by the French- and Chinese-speaking ones, while the number of those speaking German, Spanish and Russian is limited, added Mr. Ho Vandy.
During the first six months of this year, Cambodia has welcomed some 2.09 million foreign tourists, an increase by 19 percent if compared to the same period last year. The Vietnamese were still ranked at the top list of foreign visitors to Cambodia, followed by Korean, Chinese, Laotian and Thai tourists.
