With nearby Cambodia's tourism market eclipsing 4.2 million in 2013, the stage is set for growth this year.
There is an underlying concern though that one single destination within the country is overleveraging growth.
In this case its Siem Reap where last year's tally of overseas visitors was more than 2.2 million and well over half of the sum total for all of Cambodia.
There remain fears of the destination being a one trick pony, though development of the Southern coastal areas is seeing momentum.
