PHNOM PENH Hong Kong-based company Plaza Premium Lounge Management Limited (Plaza Premium), will design and operate airports lounges at the newly built terminal extensions of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap international airports.
Passengers at Phnom Penh International Airport will be able to purchase memberships to use at the airport’s new lounge by mid-year, while the lounge in Siem Reap will be ready at the end of the year.
Plaza Premium has various membership rates depending on whether a passengers wants to a one-off pass at a single lounge or prefers a membership for all of lounges for up to one year.
In January, last year, Cambodia Airports started a USD100 million programme to expand the passenger terminals at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. The upgrade will double the passenger capacity to 5 million a year at each airport.
inside no 1Cambodia Airports’ communication and marketing director, Khek Norinda, told the Phnom Penh Post that plans included additional check-in and immigration counters and more shopping and food outlets.
Both terminals will be fully operational next year.
In January, this year, Phnom Penh International Airport welcomed 267,782 passengers, while Siem Reap International Airport handled 399,192 passengers, an increase of 11% and 12% respectively, according to the Cambodia Airports’ data.
Phnom Penh International Airport also handled 2,540 flights movements and Siem Reap handled 3,956 flights movements in the first month of the year.
Plaza Premium Lounge is a regional service brand headquartered in Hong Kong, offering user-paid lounges at airports. Its first venture was in 1998, when it opened a lounge in Hong Kong International Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Today, the company has 90 lounges at 23 airports, mostly in Asia. The service is not advertised well so most passengers even if they thought it was a useful add-on facility when travelling economy class are usually unaware of their existence.
