PNHOM PENH European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham) signed a Memorandum of Understanding, Monday, with Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism to help promote and develop the tourism sector.
The MoU will promote Cambodia as a tourist destination as well as attract more European investments to the country.
Phnom Penh Post quoted EuroCham chairman, Emmanuel Menanteau, saying European companies were already involved in developing tourism in Cambodia, especially in Siem Reap province.
“The cooperation can be seen in hotels and restaurants, transportation, airports and infrastructure, which will be facilitated by the tourism committee created by EuroCham.”
inside no 2Ministry of Tourism’s Statistics and Information Department director, Kong Sopheareak, acknowledged that the memorandum should help draw more European tourists to Cambodia.
“If we can promote more direct flights, it will help tourism to grow,” he said.
Cambodia’s standing policy on aviation is to encourage more direct flights between source markets and Phnom Penh or Siem Reap.
Last year, 708,705 European tourists visited the kingdom, accounting for 15.7% of all tourist arrivals at 4.5 million visits.
