What could become a new travel fad, a couple pythons recently tied the knot, and tongues, at a wedding ceremony that drew hundreds of onlookers in Cambodia. No, we didn’t get this from The Onion as the Metro reports, a couple python snakes actually did recently get married.
If you don’t know whether to feel queasy, surprised, or alarmed, then take a number and get in line, because we don’t know what to make out (pun intended) of the situation either. According to the Metro, this wasn’t just two ordinary snakes, and this wasn’t any ordinary wedding. Taking place just outside the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, the ceremony was a couple hours and included a blessing from monks.
Villagers see the snakes as magical, creatures who bring health and prosperity to the village. The female, and larger of the two snakes, stands, or rather lies at 16 feet. The snake’s owner stated that the snanke had brought no misfortune to him so far, only improvement in living conditions since living in the home. The male snake was caught just days prior to the wedding by another villager.
