'Extravaganza' to open ATF Phnom Penh

Organisers of the annual ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2011 expect to welcome 1,600 delegates to the mart when it opens 18 January. Participants at the Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh, Cambodia include National Tourist Organisation chiefs, tourism ministers, travel suppliers from the ASEAN region and 442 international buyers.
Occupying an exhibition area of 8,430 sqm, the ATF TRAVEX – a three-day travel trade-only exhibition and business meetings platform – will feature 518 booths from 434 exhibiting companies from the 10 ASEAN countries.Pre-event networking opportunities include city tours of Phnom Penh, with tour highlights including The Royal Palace, National Museum of Cambodia, Tuol Sleng Museum (S-21 Prison), Toul Tum Poung Market, Phsar Thmey (Central Market) and Wat Phnom Daun Penh.
The ATF 2011 opening ceremony will be an extravaganza featuring some 500 local and foreign performers starring in traditional and contemporary performances. Organisers have promised that state of the art sound effects and pyrotechnics will take the performances to another level.The ASEAN Tourism Conference (ATC) – the educational front of ATF - beginning 19 January features speakers in the fields of ecotourism and sustainable tourism.
