Electricite Du Cambodge contracted with three foreign companies to expand Phnom Penh’s energy transmission and distribution systems in a project that will cost $66 million.
Two sub-power stations will be built near Wat Phnom and 12 kilometres of 115-kilovolt transmission lines will be laid. The project will also see the installation of an additional 20 kilometres of 22 kV transmission lines in the capital.
“Once the project is completed, power shortages in the city will decrease, together with the price of electricity,” said EDC’s director-general Keo Ratanak, who failed to reveal when the project will be completed.
