The Minister of Industry and Handicraft, Cham Prasidh, yesterday reminded food producers of the importance of following proper hygiene standards in every stage of their products’ processing.

He said those that fail to implement rigorous quality controls are likely to go out of business.

“Our goal is to up quality standards so that our products can compete internationally,” the minister said. “Following strict sanitary standards will help our companies enter international markets.”

The minister urged food producers to choose quality raw materials and ingredients for their products. “When our ingredients come from good, clean sources, the final product will be excellent and safe for consumption, which is what consumers need.”

Mr Prasidh also warned companies with low sanitary standards that their businesses are not sustainable in the long run. “Those who fail to adhere to stricter sanitary standards will not be successful and will likely go out of business,” he said.
