The Ministry of Tourism began yesterday the installation of a network of stickers known as QR codes in the country’s main international gateways to allow visitors to those facilities to evaluate the quality of services offered.
The QR codes are being placed at the international airports in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, as well as the border gates in Bavet and Poipet.
A QR code (abbreviated from ‘quick response code’) is a square label made up of black squares on a white background, which can be read by smart phones. Its applications include product tracking, item identification, time tracking, document management, and general marketing.
Neb Samouth, secretary-general of the ministry’s National Committee on Clean City Assessment, said the scheme is part of preparations for the international hospitality expo this year.
