A new fair organised by the Cambodian Association of Travel Agents (CATA) will be held in the capital next month to promote local tourism destinations and products.
The CATA Travel Fair will take place on July 20-22 in Phnom Penh’s Koh Pich.
“With domestic travel on the rise, we want to use this exhibition to further promote Cambodian tourism spots,” said CATA’s president Chhay Sivlin during a press conference on Monday.
Tour operators, restaurants and manufacturers of locally-made products will showcase their services and products during the three-day event, she said.
“It will allow visitors to gain a better understanding of local tourism destinations, products and cuisine.”
Chuk Chumnor, director of the Department of Cultural Tourism and Resorts, welcomed the news of a new exhibition for the local tourism industry, and said the event will bring more attention to resorts and community-based tourism sites across the country.
“More and more Cambodians are choosing to travel inside the country, particularly during long holidays,” he said. “Improving tourism services and products must remain a priority for the public and private sectors. We need to keep on making our tourism destinations more attractive for local and foreign tourists.”
