THE government has plans to hold a workshop on the gaming industry in September that will seek to train officials working closely with the industry as well as build awareness among casino companies and operators with regards to the country’s laws and regulations, according to a senior official from the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Ros Phearun, deputy director of the Department of Financial Industry, told Khmer Times yesterday that the seminar will be a collaboration between the ministries of Economy and Finance and Interior and will aim to train both government officials and members of the private sector involved in the gaming business.
“It will be the first time such a seminar is organised since the government doesn’t allow gaming-related advertising in the Kingdom.
“With the help of foreign experts, the seminar will serve to train government officers in matters that relate to the industry, so that they can do their jobs more efficiently.
“We will also invite big casino companies from around the world to provide input on our regulation,” he added.
