Users of Phnom Penh’s bus network can now pay for their rides electronically, thanks to a new partnership between Phnom Penh’s Autonomous Bus Transportation Authority and Wing Specialized Bank.
The result of that partnership is the City Bus Card, which enables electronic payments for the city’s eight existing bus lines.
Ean Sokhim, director of the Phnom Penh’s Autonomous Bus Transportation Authority, said at the launching ceremony for the card yesterday that as the number of bus routes in the capital expands, there is an increasing need to facilitate fare payments for users.
“Now we have between 20,000 to 21,000 passengers per day. The City Bus Card will make it easier for them to pay for their tickets,” he said.
Jojo Malolos, Wing’s CEO, said this link-up will change the face of public transport in Phnom Penh.
“The new card offers a quick and easy travel solution for everyone and drives forward a smooth journey towards a cashless society.
“We are very excited to be part of something new for Cambodia. The City Bus Card will revolutionise the way people use public transport in the city.
