The Six Senses brand is launching its debut property in Cambodia with the Six Senses Krabey Island hotel, which opens on Dec. 1 to capitalise on the growing number of foreign tourists to the Kingdom’s coastal areas.
Six Senses Krabey Island is set on a 30-acre private tropical island located three miles off Ream National Park in southern Cambodia.
Taing Sochet Krisna, director of Preah Sihanouk’s tourism department, said that despite the province’s large number of hotels and guesthouses, the sharp increase in local and foreign tourists in recent years creates a need for more investment in accommodation.
“We welcome investment in the hotel segment in the province, especially high-end hotels with at least three stars. There is a lot of demand for this type of accommodation at the moment,” he said, adding that, “Before we only had large numbers of tourists during public holidays. But now every weekend visitors come en masse.”
Mr Sochet Krisna said the province has more than 80 hotels, accounting for 4,000 rooms, as well as 300 guesthouses.
