Cambodia’s longest boat of 83.3 metres long and 1.94 metres wide has broken the Guinness World Record this morning.
Representative of the World Guinness Records made the announcement at a ceremony taking place at Neak Loeung of Prey Veng province, under the presidency of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Kralahorm Sar Kheng.
H.E. Hun Many, President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), H.E. Sar Sokha, Vice President of UYFC and also Head of the Longest Boat Making Commission, and H.E. Chea Somethy, Governor of Prey Veng province, were also in attendance.
The boat, named “Kambojikaputtakhemaratari,” literally meaning the boat of Khmers in Cambodian territory, was made of hardwood with artistic Khmer ancient design by more than 14,000 Cambodian people in 192 days. It is capable of carrying 179 people.
