Users of the capital’s airport shuttle service will no longer enjoy free rides, with Royal Railway announcing last week that riders will have to buy tickets at a cost of $2.5 for a one-way trip.
To encourage passengers to use the new line, Royal Railway decided to offer free-of-charge rides for the first few months of operation.
However, as of Nov 9, riders have to pay $2.5 for one-way tickets.
The airport shuttle was launched in April, connecting Phnom Penh’s central railway station to the city’s international airport and taking around 120 minutes to complete a round trip.
Royal Railways is still waiting on a shipment of double-headed train carriages from Mexico that were initially scheduled to arrive in July. According to a recent post in the company’s Facebook page, the three carriages – which will be used to replace the existing passenger cars – will arrive later this month.
