Small Planet Cambodia, a charter airline based in Siem Reap, will suspend operations starting 2019, just a year after it secured its air operator’s certificate.
The company, a subsidiary of Small Planet Group, has already filed a request to suspend its activities in the Kingdom, effective starting next year, said Khek Norinda, director of public relations and communication at Cambodia Airports.
Mr Norinda did not go into details regarding the airline’s motivation to temporarily halt operations, and told Khmer Times that questions of this nature should be addressed directly to the company.
The company did not respond to questions sent by Khmer Times via email.
Earlier this year, the airline said it planned to operate charter flights from Siem Reap to destinations in China, South Korea, and Japan.
In September, it announced plans for a new route, connecting Siem Reap to Tokyo’s Narita Airport. Plans for this route were later postponed.
The airline’s sister companies in Germany and Poland announced temporary suspensions of operations due to financial difficulties last month.
