First European Airline to Offer Flights to Cambodia

Air France is once again the only European airline to offer flights to Cambodia. The carrier launched flights from Paris to Phnom Penh this week.The airline stopped flights to Cambodia 37 years ago, but after nearly four decades of absence, has launched 3 flights per week to Phnom Penh.

The aircraft plying the route at the moment is an Airbus A340-300 with 30 Business Class seats and 21 Premium seats.However from May 9th the service will be operated using a Boeing 777-200 with 35 Business Class seats and 24 Premium seats .

Affaires Business Class passengers can unwind in the Arrivals Lounge at Paris CDG airport and relax in a comfortable cabin designed with blue and beige tones. Little extras are provided for Business Class passengers including a drawstring bag for shoes, a travel kit containing Clarins moisturizer, a pure wool blanket, hypoallergenic feather pillow, personal cloakroom service and refreshing towelettes.

The seats in Business Class have been designed so that personal space remains intact when the seat in front is reclined. The seats can fold back to become full-flat beds measuring 2 metres long and 2 feet wide. The armrests automatically retract in the bed position and there is a massage function so passengers can really relax. Business guests can watch movies on a 10.4” TV screen with noise cancelling headsets and plug in their laptop using the in-seat power socket.

The launch of this Cambodia service is part of a wider growth strategy- Air France KLM plans to increase the number of seats by 5.7% and launch 11 new destinations this year. Air France will launch routes to Phnom Penh, Bata, Billund, Freetown, Lima, Monrovia, Orlando and Cancun, whilst partner airline KLM will launch services to Xiamen, Miami and Aalborg.

Pierre-Henri Gourgeon, CEO of AIR FRANCE KLMannounced: “We are proud to be the first European airline to once again operate scheduled services between Europe and Cambodia, as part of our growth strategy on routes to Asia where we are increasing capacity.”

He also added: ”These three new weekly flights will promote economic and cultural ties with this buoyant region and also meet a strong demand from our leisure customers.”

Flights will depart from Paris CDG on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays at 19:30 in the evening, arriving in Bangkok at 11:50 in the morning the following day.andnbsp; The flight will then leave Bangkok the same day at 13:15 in the afternoon, landing in Phnom Penh at 14:30.

Return Flights will depart from Phnom Penh on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 20:05 in the evening, arriving in Bangkok at 21:20. The flight leaves Bangkok the same day at 22:55 at night, touching down in Paris at 6:05 the following morning.
