The new hotel, called FCC Angkor, is the restored Foreign Correspondents Club (FCC) Angkor in Siem Reap. According to Avani, it formally opened its door to customers last week.

The new hotel is a welcome addition to the hospitality industry in Siem Reap, the site of the world-famous Angkor Wat and Cambodia’s leading tourist destination.

After taking over the management of the old hotel, Avani set about renovating and restoring it back to its old glory.

FCC Angkor is one of the most historic and iconic hotels in the Kingdom. It once served as residence for the city’s French colonial governor and a meeting place for international journalists and movie stars.

Avani reportedly spent $7 million to renovate the hotel. The restoration was spearheaded by Phnom Penh-based Bloom Architecture and Dutch designer Marijke (Malee) Whitcraft.

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels, was quoted in the website Hotel Management as saying that their entry into Cambodia is part of their ongoing commitment to offering an upscale experience to all intrepid travellers. Minor Hotels is the parent company of Avani Hotels & Resorts

“We believe FCC Angkor will be home to the traveller seeking an authentic experience in the social hub of Siem Reap,” he said.

According to Avani, the renovation saw the addition of 60 rooms, a bar called Scribe, spa, pool, and lounge.
