The travel industry's relentless appetite for mass tourism has been attacked by CEO of Ecotourism Australia, Kym Cheatham, who said: “The endless pursuit of growth in mass tourism numbers is a hollow ambition with mass tourism bringing profitless volume." Ms Cheatham said Australia should learn from countries like Combodia and Indonesia, "where ecotourism is front and centre". If only that were true. Angkor Wat, Cambodia, is in real danger of being trampled by tourism while Bali Indonesia, is also feeling the pressure of visitor numbers. Mass tourism is everywhere.
