National Day of Cambodia today

09 Nov 2012  2097 | Cambodia Travel News

Manila, Philippines – The Kingdom of Cambodia celebrates its National Day today, commemorating the declaration of independence from France by King Norodom Sihanouk in 1953.

Agriculture, textile, and tourism form the backbone of Cambodia’s economy. Major exports of the country are fish, timber, garments, rubber, and rice. From 2001 to 2010, Cambodia registered an annual average Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of around 7.7%, making it one of the world’s best economic performers according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Cambodia were formally established in 1957. The Philippines and Cambodia has maintained cordial ties since the resumption of diplomatic relations in 1995 and the reopening of the Cambodian Embassy in Manila in 1999.

The two countries have concluded agreements on economic and trade relations, agricultural, and tourism cooperation.

We congratulate the people and government of Cambodia headed by His Majesty, King Norodom Sihamoni and Their Excellencies, Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hor Namhong, and its Embassy in the Philippines led by Ambassador Hos Sereythonh, on the occasion of its National Day. CONGRATULATIONS AND MABUHAY!
