More Russian Tourists Visit Preah Sihanouk Province

The Russian tourists ranked top among the 10 nationalities who visit Preah Sihanouk costal province in the first quarter of 2013.

According to Provincial Tourism Department Director Mr. Seng Kha, the number of national and international tourists visited Preah sihanouk province increased to 353,277 in the first three months of 2013, up 28.39 percent and 30.39 percent respectively if compared with the same period of last year.

Of the 353,277 visitors, 258,413 were local tourists and 94,864 were foreign tourists, he indicated.

British visitors ranked second after the Russians followed by Chinese, American, French, Vietnamese, Australian, German, Canadian and S. Korean tourists, he added.

He further attributed the growing number of tourists to the province to the development of Koh Puos bridge construction invested by Russian investor as well as of commercial, industrial, cultural and tourism sectors.

In 2012, Cambodia welcomed some 3.58 million foreign visitors, up 24.4 percent from 2.88 million in 2011. The number of foreign arrivals in the Kingdom is expected to reach 4.5 million this year.

According to the World Economic Forum, Cambodia ranked 106th among 140 countries in the world in terms of tourism industry and transportation, marking an improvement if compared with 2012 when the country ranked 109th.
