Tourists from Arab and Middle Eastern countries are top spenders in Cambodian tourism, according to a recent assessment.
“Visitors from Arab countries and Israel spend an average of US$1,000 for 5-day and 4 night tour,” said Mr. Ho Vandy, Co-Chair of the Government-Private Sector Working Group on Tourism.
“They consume luxurious services and products, with very high standard,” he added.
The said groups of tourists are from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Oman, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. Of them, Israel visitors stand the first place in terms of number.
Arab and Middle Eastern visitors rose to 4,031 in the first quarter of 2013 from 3,750 for the same period in previous year – 7.5 percent increase – thanks to direct flight from Cambodia to the region.
