Local firms will be able to promote their products to local and foreign buyers at the Import-Export Product Exhibition, which will take place in December in the nation’s capital.
The expo aims to boost trade and encourage more foreign investors to put their money in the Kingdom, the Ministry of Commerce said in a recent statement.
“The event will create many opportunities for local firms, helping them increase their networks within and outside the country,” it said.
The expo will feature a series of forums and seminars, as well as a business matching event.
“On behalf of SMEs, we would like to thank the government for organising this expo, which will help many local firms increase sales,” said Te Taing Por, president of the Federation of Associations for Small and Medium Enterprises of Cambodia.
Mr Taing Por said demand for Cambodia-made products has spiked following a general improvement of quality standards among local manufacturers, particularly when it comes to processing and packaging.
“Cambodian products can now compete with products elsewhere in the region,” Mr Taing Por said.
The Import-Export Product Exhibition will be held on Dec 9-11 in Phnom Penh.
The ministry also urged local producers to partake in an event to promote Cambodian products that will be held alongside this year’s Sea Festival in Koh Kong province on Dec 13-16.
Dubbed the ‘Buying Khmer Products Campaign’, the event seeks to encourage more Cambodians to choose products that are designed and manufactured within the country.
