Cellcard, a leading mobile operator owned by Royal Group, was named the fastest mobile network in Cambodia by Ookla, the company behind Speedtest.
The award was presented on Tuesday at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, in a ceremony attended by international telecom leaders, experts, members of the press and key representatives of the Cambodian Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
“Today Ookla awarded Cellcard the title of the fastest mobile network in Cambodia.
“Cellcard was also the fastest provider in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville. This is the fourth consecutive round of awards for Cellcard from Ookla, a reputed leader for independent network measurement and reporting,” the company said in a press release.
Ookla is a global leader in mobile and broadband network intelligence, testing applications and technology. Its flagship platform, Speedtest, is used by 10 million consumers every day.
Cellcard CEO Ian Watson said accepting the award again this year was a great pleasure and honour.
“Being recognised now for the fourth period of testing from Ookla is proof of our commitment to give Cambodians a world-class network,” Mr Watson said.
“We are not just catering for our customer’s current demand for data, but planning for the future of pre-5G and 5G data services where speed will be the game changer.
