A few weeks after it was first introduced to the world at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Huawei on Thursday launched in Cambodia the Mate X, a foldable 5G-enabled smartphone.
The Mate X grabbed headlines worldwide last month after raking in 34 awards in Barcelona, Spain. Its most prominent feature is a screen that can be folded and stretched.
The official launch in Cambodia took place at Huawei’s office in Phnom Penh’s Exchange Square.
According to Huawei, the Mate X is the only existing handset designed for different phases of future commercial 5G development. It is hailed by the manufacturers as the world’s fastest foldable 5G phone.
Henry Xiao, Huawei country director, said at the launch that the Mate X has revolutionised the mobile phone sector, bringing unprecedented human-smartphone interaction experience, and leading innovation in the smartphone industry.
