The government cancelled the rental contract for a floating 200-MW (megawatt) power plant from Turkey due to technical issues.
The cancellation was announced by the Prime Minister at the cabinet meeting on Friday, April 5 and comes just one week after he signed the agreement during the 18th Government-Private Sector Forum at the Peace Palace.
According to Phay Siphan, the government’s spokesman, the contract was retracted primarily because the floating power plant will take so long to reach Cambodia that it wouldn’t affect the current power shortage.
