A delegation of Chinese investors is in Cambodia to study potential investments in chemical processing and agribusiness, among other sectors.
The delegation, composed of 10 Chinese firms, announced their intention to invest in these sectors during a meeting last week with the Ministry of Commerce. The delegation was led by the China Sub-Health Research Association.
Ministry spokesman Long Kemvichet said those companies are looking for opportunities in the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals and agribusiness, among others.
He said Cambodia has great potential in the chemical processing industry and that larger investments in the sector will allow the country to curb its current reliance on imports.
None of the companies in the delegation provided concrete investment plans.
Gan Jusheng, the association’s secretary, said a Chinese company that had previously visited the Kingdom on a similar trip is now investing on a 1,000-hectare coconut palm plantation in Kratie.
