Acleda Bank, the largest locally-owned bank in the Kingdom, has inked a new partnership with China’s UnionPay to issue contactless debit cards.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, In Channy, Acleda president and group CEO, said the new cards issued in collaboration with the Chinese firm target customers that travel abroad frequently.
“We know that our customers need to travel for business or leisure. These cards facilitate settlements abroad because UnionPay has the biggest network around the world,” Mr Channy said.
Shuan Ghaidan, product director at UnionPay International, said, “With the rapid growth of foreign investment, the number of people travelling to and from Cambodia for business or leisure is increasing significantly. These people need to make payments when they go abroad.
“Due to its large base of business, trade and finance customers, Acleda bank is the ideal partner for UnionPay to meet the demand for this service.”
