Gaming industry players in the Mekong Region will be descending on Cambodia in a few months for one of the biggest regional events of the industry in the last few years.

Ros Phirun, director-general of the Ministry of Commerce, confirmed in an email yesterday that Cambodia will be the venue of the Mekong Gaming Summit.

The event will be held at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra on September 10-12.

“Cambodia approved AGB to organize this event,” said Mr Phirun, apparently referring to Asia Gaming Brief.

He said the gathering will bring together under one roof regional regulators and operators. More than a hundred participants from Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos are expected to attend the three-day event.

Several prominent people in the international gaming scene and related fields are expected to make presentations and share important information about the industry.

Among them are Ben Lee, managing partner of Macau-based IGamiX Management & Consulting, and Maxfield Brown, manager of the business intelligence unit of Vietnam’s Dezan Shira & Associates.

Mike Gore, VP for corporate strategy of Japan’s Hamatomo Corporation, and Steve Gallaway, managing partner of US-headquartered Global Market Advisors, will also be present at the event.
