ISLAMABAD, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Intelligence Chief, Lt. General Zaheer-ul-Islam, has postponed his visit to the United States, the military said Monday.
An army spokesman said that the visit of the Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to the United States had been "postponed due to his pressing commitments here."
"There is no other reason of the postponement of the visit," the spokesman of the ISI Public Relations said in a text message.
Earlier local TV reported that the ISI chief delays his visit due to on-going "tension" between the United States and Pakistan.
TV channels reported that the ISI chief was scheduled to visit the United States this week. No new date has been announced.
Reports said that the CIA Chief, David Petraeus, had invited the ISI chief for his first visit to the United States since he assumed office in March.
Lt. Gen Zaheer-ul-Islam had replaced Gen. Ahmad Shuja Pasha who retired in early March after completion of his term.
