The Malaysian airline has announced additional flights in 2013 on long haul flights from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne, Taipei and Chengdu.
Effective 1 May 2013, additional frequencies will see the current daily flights to Melbourne increased to nine per week from 1 May 2013 and twelve weekly by 1 July 2013.
Services to Taipei will increase from current daily to ten weekly from 1 May 2013 and then double daily flights commencing 1 July 2013,
Flights to Chengdu will increase from current five times weekly to six flights weekly and then daily from 1 July 2013.
AirAsia X chief executive Azran Osman-Rani said flight frequencies were a testament to the airline’s commitment to its guests.
Meanwhile, AirAsia X’s parent airline, Air Asia has ordered 100 new Airbus A320s, bringing the airline’s narrow body aircraft figures up to 475.
The order consists of 36 A320s with the current engine option and 64 A320s with new engine option
Aircraft is expected to be delivered over a period running until 2021 and will be used to build the group’s markets in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia followed by its new markets in Japan and the Philippines.
