Singapore Airlines reworks schedule, increases Aus services

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has boosted its services to Australia, Asia and Europe in order to meet increased demand during the Northern Summer operating season.

The Northern Summer season occurs between 31 March and 26 October 2013.

Australia will gain a fourth daily service to Melbourne and Adelaide will receive an extra two flights per week, lifting the total flights operated by SIA and SilkAir to Australia each week to 121.

“The timing of this new service is a great example of the flexibility and convenience our curfew free operations provide to passengers and to airline customers,” Melbourne Airport chief executive Chris Woodruff said.

“As a leading, full service international carrier, Singapore Airlines’ decision to introduce a fourth daily service is a vote of confidence in Melbourne and Victoria.”

Within Asia, the city of Fukuoka will benefit from a daily frequency, while Osaka will increase to twice-daily.

The Singapore-Moscow-Houston route will be flown daily between 20 May and 11 August next year.

Copenhagen will jump to five flights per week from the beginning of the Northern Summer.

Non-stop services between Singapore and Los Angeles and between Singapore and Newark have been dropped, with the final departures occurring on 20 October and 23 November, respectively.
