AirAsia X has kicked the toddlers and their tiaras out of seven rows of economy to create an all new ‘Quiet Zone’.
Taking off this week, the airline has reserved the seats for guests above the age of 12, looking for a quiet and more peaceful journey to their destination.
Available on the airline’s long-haul flights across China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Australia and Nepal, the ‘Quiet Zone’ is located immediately after the Premium cabin and even includes soft lighting to create a relaxing environment.
AirAsia X chief executive Azran Osman-Rani said the airline is “not banning kids from travelling”, but rather offering travellers an extra product for a more “pleasant and peaceful journey with minimal noise”.
Guests interested in travelling in the ‘Quiet Zone’ simply need to choose the area in their pick-a-seat option during the booking process. Passengers are charged only a standard pick-a-seat fee.
