Thailand’s national flag carrier, Thai Airways International, will launch more routes and says it is working closely with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to help the country reach the 25 million tourist target this year.
THAI president, Sorajak Kasemsuvan, said the airline is looking to add more flights on popular routes and to add new services to support tourism growth.
“The airline had discussed this year’s target to attract 25 million international travellers with the TAT and we will add more services.”
A service to Japan’s Sapporo will increase from five to seven flights until the end of March.
New flights will connect Phuket with Bombay and New Delhi under TG’s sister operation, Thai Smile, while additional flights to Myanmar will also be launched to accommodate travellers from Europe and America.
“More routes to and from India and Russia will also be introduced and we plan more services to China and Myanmar.”
THAI will soon open Bangkok-Mandalay-Bangkok flights, claiming the route could easily achieve a 80% cabin factor.
