Etihad, Virgin Australia and Tourism Australia have unveiled their first-ever joint cooperative marketing campaign, less than six months after the two airlines announced they would jump on board to assist the tourism bureau.
In December last year, Virgin Australia and Etihad signed new agreements to help Tourism Australia fill the marketing gap following Qantas’ decision to terminate its joint three year AU$44 million marketing contract.
Now the three groups have announced their first campaign, which launched this week and will run Germany-wide until the end of June 2013 to promote travel between Germany and Australia.
Utilising Tourism Australia’s ‘There’s nothing like Australia’ campaign, the campaign will direct Germans to visit www.australia.com/australien-erleben, to find out everything they need to know about visiting Australia.
Tourism Australia managing director Andrew McEvoy said the campaign will provide Germans with a “great and very affordable” means of visiting Australia, through competitive international fares with the bonus of two domestic flights.
Germany is currently Australia’s eleventh largest inbound market, with 154,800 Germans visiting Australia in 2012 and spending up to aU$0.9 billion.
