Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) has continued its partnerships with a new commercial agreement with Flight Centre.
The new deal will see the travel agency promote holidays to Queensland in the next three years with a focus on the domestic market as well as the UK.
Minister for Tourism and Major Events Jann Stuckey said: “The partnership will deliver fantastic dividends for Queensland’s tourism industry attracting more visitors to the state with a focus on attracting Australian travellers as well as international tourists from the key visitor markets of the United Kingdom and New Zealand.”
The Australian region has a 20-year plan to increase its visitor count and expenditure by 2020 and was also a partner of The Inbetweeners 2 film launch earlier this month.
“We are always looking for innovative ways to make the most out of emerging opportunities which benefit Queensland’s tourism industry and we feel this partnership with Flight Centre is a fantastic fit,” said Leanne Coddington, chief executive of TEQ.
Flight Centre Travel Group’s managing director Graham Turner added: “We are very excited about our partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland as it is a prime destination for our customers and we look forward to launching some inspiring campaigns across the UK. We believe this partnership will help grow visitor numbers to Queensland from the UK particularly as we gear up for major events such as the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.”
