Bilateral talks on Yunnan flight

HANOI Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung, has expressed his support for a Chinese proposal to set up direct flights between the province of Yunnan and cities in Vietnam.
The priority would be to establish daily flights between Kunming the capital of Yunnan province, China and Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.
The Chinese are also keen to set up a cross-border economic cooperation zone; a joint project that would have a link to the northern border province of Lao Cai.
Local media claimed the move would bring more trade, investment and tourism to Lai Cai, but it would first require easier immigration and export-import procedures. Airlines would be encouraged to establish daily services.
inside no 4“Localities sharing a common borderline should hold regular meetings and people-to-people exchanges to raise mutual trust and understanding,” the Prime Minister advised.
Yunnan province governor, Chen Hao, said Yunnan would do its best to deliver on the commitments made by the country’s leaders, especially those regarding economic, trade, investment and tourism connections.
He suggested promoting trade through exhibitions and fairs, including the Kunming international fair.
The governor also proposed a number of provisions on transport links by road, rail between the two countries, launching direct flights from Kunming, capital of Yunnan province to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
