SINGAPORE  Singapore on Saturday raised its security alert level following a wave of bombings and shootings in Paris that left at least 120 people dead, officials said.
“These attacks show that no country is immune, even when there is a state of heightened security,” Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam said in a statement.
“In Singapore, today, we have raised our alert level. We have stepped up security measures, border checks and vigilance,” he said in a statement.
“Together, everyone plays a part to keep Singapore safe and secure. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or persons to the authorities.”China-Taiwan-Summit-Why Singapore

China-Taiwan-Summit-Why SingaporeDefence Minister Ng Eng Hen said authorities also heightened security at air and naval bases.
“We have also stepped up vigilance at our local camps, especially at our naval and air bases,” Ng said in a Facebook post.
“Our security agencies are monitoring the situation closely. Let’s all be vigilant and keep each other safe.”
Singapore is a close US trade and security partner and hosts the offices and facilities of thousands of multinational corporations.
Authorities in 2001 foiled a plot to bomb US and other foreign targets in the city-state and arrested several militants in the process.
Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in a Facebook post earlier Saturday said he was “shocked to wake up to the news of the multiple terrorist attacks in Paris”.
“It is not the first time innocent civilians have been massacred like this in this troubled world. But each time it happens we again feel appalled and outraged beyond words, for an attack like this is in fact an attack on our shared humanity,” Lee said.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families, and to the people and government of Paris and France,” he added.
Singapore Airlines advised customers travelling to and from Paris to check the status of their flights on the carrier’s website “as the situation is fluid” in the French capital following the coordinated attacks Friday evening.
It also advised customers to arrive early at the airport as delays can be expected due to enhanced security checks.
