Virgin moves to Perth’s new terminal

PERTH Australia’s newest domestic terminal will become home to Virgin Australia from Sunday 22 November.
For the first time, Virgin passengers will be able to transfer seamlessly between regional, interstate and international services at one convenient location at Perth’s brand new terminal.
Perth Airport chief executive officer, Brad Geatches, and Virgin Australia Group chief executive officer, John Borghetti, last Friday toured the new T1 Domestic Terminal, including the Virgin Australia Lounge, departures and arrivals areas, food and beverage hub, and were guided through Virgin Australia’s new check-in experience.
The T1 domestic terminal is the most significant project in Perth Airport’s current AUD1 billion redevelopment.
inside no 7“It was the most complex component of our redevelopment programme, and we are delighted to welcome Virgin Australia to their new home,” said Geatches.

“The new Terminal is a world-class facility, offering customers a high level of service including a range of quality food, beverage and retail outlets, and a premium lounge for Virgin Australia guests.”
The terminal was built especially for Virgin Australia’s regional, domestic and international flights,” the airline’s CEO said.
“Perth is now home to our flagship check-in experience and we have doubled the size of the Virgin Australia Perth Lounge.”
Premier of Western Australia, Colin Barnett commended Perth Airport on its investment decision, saying it coincided with the Federal and State Government’s AUD1 billion, Gateway WA, road network leading to the airport.
“Tourism is an AUD8.7 billion industry for Western Australia and in 2014-15 Perth Airport’s passenger numbers, including international and domestic, reached almost 14 million,” he said.
Features of Virgin Australia’s T1 domestic terminal include:
28 domestic check-in kiosks and 14 hybrid self-service bag drop desks incorporating a new fast-track check-in system;
12 aerobridge serviced departure gates including three A330 capable aircraft gates.
