SYDNEY - The annual Virtuoso Luxe Report, produced by the luxury international travel agency network Virtuoso, has revealed Australia is the 5th most popular global destination for luxury travel with New Zealand in 4th place for adventure holidays.
The report, which survey’s Virtuoso advisors from over 375 agency members across North America, Latin America, Asia-Pacific and Europe, is a one of the best predictors of international luxury travel trends and destinations for the upcoming year.
“Virtuoso advisors have clients who are looking for the ultimate travel experience from the comfort of 5+ star hotels, to amazing close to nature experiences to memorable family holidays to hi-octane adventure, so they really are ahead of the curve in trends for travel," Virtuoso Asia Pacific Managing Director, Michael Londregan said.
“It’s no surprise Australia ranks highly as a desirable travel destination, particularly for those Virtuoso clients out of the United States, who see Australia as offering great beaches, nature, food and wine and a warm welcome."
“New Zealand has also been a strong contender for some time and they are really showing their strength as not only a luxury destination, but as a place for adventure and experience.”
Mr Londregan said the report also revealed luxury travellers are enjoying traveling as a multigenerational family and to celebrate special occasions.
“Luxury travel today is more than comfort and high end hotels, it is about building experience, engagement and enrichment including spending quality time with those you love."
“We can really see from these results that today’s luxury traveller is well travelled and sees their travel experiences as valuable life achievements which connect them to the things they feel enrich their lives.”
