Kato Pleasure Group (KPG), a member of The Ryokan Collection, will open a new luxury ryokan in the Mt. Fuji area this autumn. Kawaguchiko Fufu is slated to open in October 2018, with 32 guest rooms, each of which will boast spectacular views of Mt. Fuji. The two companies plan to open 5 additional ryokan in the series.
KPG President Kato said, "Small luxury resorts in Japan are still undeveloped. We want to make the ‘Fufu’ series Japan’s leading resorts and proudly introduce it to the world.”
The investment amount is expected to be over JPY 30 billion (approx.USD274 million.) in total. After the opening of Kawaguchiko Fufu, 5 more ryokan in the “Fufu” series are planned – Atami Fufu ”KO NO MA NO TSUKI”, Nara Fufu, Kyoto Fufu, Nikko Fufu and Gora Fufu – by 2020. This is the first time for The Ryokan Collection to welcome a member ryokan in the Mt. Fuji area. The portfolio already includes 4 other KPG properties: Atami Sekaie, Atami Fufu, Atami Kaihourou and Hakone Suishoen.
Kawaguchiko Fufu will be located on the shores of Lake Kawaguchi, just 2 hours away from Tokyo by car. Lake Kawaguchi is one of the Fuji Five Lakes, part of Fuji Hakone Izu National Park, which is home to some of the most famous onsen resorts in Japan.
