In a bid to raise agricultural standards in the Kingdom and form local partnerships, a business delegation from South Korea yesterday organised a workshop on food processing and packaging in Phnom Penh.

Lee Hyuk, secretary general of the Asean-Korea Centre, said during the Trade Facilitation Workshop for Cambodian Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises workshop yesterday that the visiting Korean companies have set their sights on the Cambodian agricultural sector, and that their investment could go a long way in modernising the sector.

He said many of the members of the delegation are hoping to partner up with Cambodian firms, particularly to build food processing and packaging facilities.

“Our goal with this workshop is to strengthen the local agricultural and food production industries. We seek to build the foundations that will allow us to share the experiences and good practices of Korean business leaders with Cambodian entrepreneurs,” Mr Hyuk said, adding that the event also serves Korean firms as a platform from where to meet potential business partners.

In total, representatives of 13 Korean companies gave presentations during the workshop. They focused mostly on how to improve processes and systems for food processing and packaging.
