Thailand’s travel and hospitality companies can file their applications for the Thailand Tourism Awards 2012 from 1 November until 31 January 2012.
Judges will select the winners who will receive their awards on World Tourism Day, 27 September 2012, the Tourism Authority of Thailand announced last week.
Initiated by TAT in 1996, the Thailand Tourism Awards are held bi-annually. They are designed to recognise best-practices in the Thai travel and tourism industry and encourage companies to strive for higher professional standards.
The primary judging criteria goes beyond just individual product design and service delivery. It includes the applicants ability to conserve the country’s natural resources, mitigate climate change, contribute to economic and social development particularly the sufficiency economy principle, practice good governance and pursue innovation.
TAT Governor Suraphon Svetasreni said, “Based on the strict criteria, the awards are recognised as proof of TAT’s commitment to promote quality development of the tourism industry. We want the awards to be globally recognised as a symbol of quality.”
