Thai AirAsia will strengthen its Chiang Mai hub with services to Ubon Ratchathani in the lower Northeast, 16 November.
Seat sales have started on the new route, which will have three flights weekly.
Thai AirAsia CEO, Tassapon Bijleveld said: “The Chiang Mai – Ubon Ratchthani route creates a triangle, connecting North, Northeast and South Thailand and linking Chiang Mai with both Ubon Ratchthani and Phuket. Cross regional travel becomes more convenient without going through Bangkok.”
Ubon Ratchathani is the main commercial town in the lower Northeast a centre for agricultural related trade, universities and is also the gateway to southern Laos through Pakse.
Rail services operate to the town from Bangkok and its airport is served by Thai Airways International, Nok Air and Thai AirAsia with daily services from both of Bangkok’s international airports.

Out of its Chiang Mai base, Thai AirAsia operates flights to Bangkok, Phuket and Singapore. Its sister airline, AirAsia flies from Kuala Lumpur to Chiang Mai.
