Cat City Holidays Sdn Bhd won the ‘Outstanding Tour Operator Inbound Category’ during the recent Sarawak Hornbill Tourism Award 2009/2010 gala night.
This is the company’s second award after receiving the Sarawak Tourism Federation’s ‘Best Inbound Tour Operator 2008’.
Managing director Mok Venia said the latest win would motivate the company to continue treading on the right path.
“The award was presented based on customers’ votes, and our contributions to society as well as our activities held.
“We do a lot of events with our tours. For example, we bring tourists to a pineapple farm when visiting Annah Rais longhouse, and they have an opportunity to learn how to chop pineapple bushes, as well as learn how to cook ayam pansuh,” Mok told thesundaypost on Friday.
The company also holds student tours, such as a recent one involving Singaporean students visiting villages, children’s cancer ward at the Sarawak General Hospital, and the Salvation Army as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.
Cat City also arranges special interest programmes like birding and trekking and customised travel for individuals and groups according to budget.
Established in 1998, Cat City was nominated by Hilton Hotel as the ‘Best producer Travel Agent for 1999’, and awarded the ‘Best Newcomer Travel Agent 1999’, ‘Top Five Agent Award 2000’, and nominated at the Hornbill Tourism Award 2003 as ‘Best Inbound Tour Operator’.
Mok has also been awarded the ‘Sarawak State Entrepreneur of the Year 2007’, while representing the Sarawak Tourism Federation.
The company also caters for special incentive trips to Mulu National Park, Kota Kinabalu, other parts of Malaysia and Brunei. Its major markets are Europe, Southeast Asia and the United States.
