MANILA, July 13 -- The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-Korea Center is organizing the “2012 ASEAN-Korea Multimedia Competition” for university students and young artists.
The competition, now on its fourth year, aims to provide a channel for cultural exchanges and enhance mutual understanding between young generations of ASEAN and Korea through new media, a press statement from ASEAN said.
Under the theme, “Show Yourself: ASEAN Self-Portrait, Korean Self-Portrait,” this year’s competition will illustrate the diverse interests of youth through contemporary mixed-media arts.
With the underlying idea of “self-portraits,” the competition hopes to present a new conformity of art and culture through the day-to-day realities of ASEAN and Korean youth, capturing the diversity and uniqueness of ASEAN and Korean fashion, cuisine and architecture.
ASEAN said the competition is open to citizens of ASEAN member-states and Korea under the age of 30.
The 2012 ASEAN-Korea Multimedia Competition, composed of two categories, photography and digital media arts, receives submissions from July 9 until September 24, 2012.
Along with a prize, ten selected winners residing in ASEAN member-states will be invited to Seoul for the Opening Ceremony & Exhibition. More information on the competition is available at www.aseankoreammc.com.
The 2012 ASEAN-Korea Multimedia Competition is supported by the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN-Committee on Culture and Information (COCI), and ASEAN University Network (AUN).
The ASEAN-Korea Centre is an intergovernmental organization aiming to increase trade volume, accelerate investment flow, invigorate tourism and enrich cultural exchanges between the ASEAN Member States and the ROK.
